Highlights of 2014

2014 has been the most hardest and hectic year ever for me in my adult life. I moved 78 Miles away from my family, friends and pets to embark on something i like to call CHANGE! Through these hard times of getting to know a town that seems to be stuck in the past, all i can see is the positive things around me...Good people, nice food and great adventures! But at the end of the day i am still that city kid trying to find there way in this large world. So i will never give up!
I would also like to give thanks to all of you for reading my blog and supporting me for almost 3 years now. It really means the world to me, that there is nice people around the globe who believes in me and supports my every more... THANK YOU!!!

Love, Cortney Patterson

With everything on my 16GB phone, photos seem to be the number one thing taking up all of my memory. But its not just any photos like landscapes and a nice pet dog, its freakin #Selfies. Yes, the selfie is taking up 5GB of storage, with probable sets of 20 or more per setting.
So instead of going though and deleting them all so quickly, i decided to share my recent set with you all. Showing you the good, the bad and the just plain out WOW!
Some of you right now are probable thinking why would you even do this! But I'm a very transparent person with you all. That being said here is behind the scenes of  FashionShyChild #selfie taking...enjoy! :)

E.L.F. Studio Blush Palette Review

blush1 blush2 blush3 blush4  {Light palette}
blush5 blush6
{Dark Palette}

When it comes to blushes, finding the perfect color and finish is super important to me. There has been plenty of times where i would get a blush (usually pink tone) and think OMG! this is going to be the perfect color! Then i get home and you cant even see it on my skin or it comes out super ashy. Then there is times i would get so many singles blushes to the point i run out of room to put them... That single product life!

With all that being said and you all reading my new world problems, i'm basically here to share with you my thought and feeling on a very under rated products and that would be the E.L.F. Studio Blush Palettes.
I have been using these to palettes since they came out and i have been loving them. They do have some ups and downs but for the price, you really cant go wrong. In this review i will be covering these Points: Packaging, Product Review (with Pros & Cons) and My Final Thoughts. So lets get started. :)

Packaging: These blushes come in a very light cardboard box cover, that has a true to color picture of the blushes on them. One you take the product out of the box the palette is very sleek and light weight but is a sturdy hard plastic.

Product Review: You can get these blush palettes in two tones, lights and darks and they are both the same price of $6USD each. They come with a full size mirror and four good size blushes, that are sure going to last you! Every blush is highly pigmented and only needs a little amount when applying. They do give you a nice variety of finishes with some being shimmery and some being Matte. But the finish doesn't bring down the quality of the product, which is a plus! You will notice that the blushes can be popped out to be mixed around or place into another of the same palette. Eventually im hoping they have a way so we can create our own palette. But if you owned E.L.F. blushes before from the studio line, you might come across some colors you already have and if you haven't this two palettes is really all you need.

Pros: quality, pigmented, finishes, price, mirror

Cons: hard to blend if a little to much is applied

My Final Thoughts: If your starting out with makeup, need more blushes or building your makeup kit for clients, These are two perfect blush palettes that would work for any occasion and wont brake your bank. A big must Buy! #fashionshychildApproved

If you are interested you can purchases the palettes here :)

Jacket: Forever21+ | Jeans: Forever21+ | Shoes: Torrid | Bag: Sanrio | Umberella: Target | Lips: MAC Pro Longwear Lipglass "Forever Rose"

Moving out here to the Valley i never would have thought it would be so foggy, raining and cold. But its not Summer or Fall anymore, i guess we can say. Winter time is truly showing its colors and spirit.
I decided to pull out my combat rain boots i bought at last year, my bright pink umbrella i bought from Target also last year and my very cute  Hello Kitty quilted black face bag. This outfit to me is like being a kid all over again, without trying to hard i think. But anyways how is the weather where you live? Is it looking like winter yet or are you in a place where its actually summer? Let me know! :)

Adovia Intensive Anti-Wrinkle Cream Review

anti age
As i get older my skin has become more of a priority for me to keep it looking young. So finding and testing out skin care that works is key. If you are relatively new to my blog, this isn't the first Adovia product i have tried. I also tested out the Adovia Morning Day Cream and did a whole review for it here. So if that doesn't tell you i love the brand i don't know what will.
This Adovia Intensive Anti-wrinkle cream is a face cream i only use in the morning because i feel like it works best then. It leaves my face super moisturized without the feeling of being heavy or greasy... That i truly love since i have oily sensitive skin. It also works great as a base for your makeup. I would put this on my face than apply my foundation and it would go on super smooth. It also looks great wearing it alone. Iv notice when you wear it alone it makes it look like you have sometime of makeup on, when you really dont... Kind of like a blurring effect. The product also has a nice classy smell, not strong at all and can only really be smelt inside the jar. Also i really dont want to leave this highly important part out but a little goes a long way, so your cream will last longer.
I hope this review helped you out if your looking for a new face cream or anything in the anti-wrinkle department because starting out as soon as possible is key to keep the youthfulness of your skin.
I received one or more of the products mentioned above for free using Regardless, I only recommend products or services I use personally and believe will be good for my readers.

tuna sand.

Part of me going on this healthier eating lifestyle, is sharing what i eat with you all. So for lunch when i want something fast quick and easy without all of the fuss of thinking, i love to make a Tuna Spinach Sandwich. But its not your average Tuna Sandwich, this one has no mayonnaise! (i cant stand mayo) Its also a meal anyone can make because you really need know cooking skills. If you can make a PB&J you can definitely make this. So lets get started with what you are going to need and how to make it.

Ingredients (makes 2 sandwiches) :
1 5oz can of Tuna in water
1 hard-boiled egg, shelled
1/4 cups of chopped onions
1/4 cups of chopped tomatoes (optional)
2 dashes of garlic salt
3 dashes of black pepper
couple pieces of baby spinach
4 pieces of whole wheat bread

  1. Take a can opener and open the 5oz can of tuna in water. Drain liquid and put tuna in a bowl.
  2. Put 2 dashes of garlic salt and 3 dashes of black pepper and mix together.
  3. Add 1/4 cups of chopped onions and 1/4 cups of tomatoes.
  4. Take a knife and slice up the hard boiled egg into the bowl...mix together.
  5. Put your 4 pieces of whole wheat bread in a toaster... Then add it to a saucer.
  6. Put tuna mixture on bread, add your pieces of baby spinach and wah-lah!
Serve with a side of stemmed broccoli and a glass of water... Happy Lunching!

Paragon Fine Art Website Review

This post brought to you by Fine Art Gallery. The content and opinions expressed below are that of FashionShyChild.

Searching the Internet i stumbled across an art retailer page called Paragon Fine Art. This Art Gallery website was different than any other i have ever came across, just with the front page itself. There is Disney Fine Art displayed on the very front page! Seeing this i had to stay longer and see what other cool art pieces they had to offer. Because when does Disney art ever gets displayed on the front page of an art gallery!?

So i went over to the artist section and there was so much more fun and expressive Fine Art For Sale. Like Tom Everhart "love is a drug", Michael Provenza "Pineapple Hill" and Glen Tarnowski "Possibilities. But my favorite would have to be the Rob Kaz limited edition prints. Which it kind of hard to explain but i can see my personality and feelings in the frogs eyes. Trying to find my place in the world and see where i fit in.

I've also notice that every Fine Art Gallery section has a good size picture displaying its color, textures and quality. There is also a title for the piece of art, what finish it is on, size and in a lot of cases a little description explaining the pieces meaning. I also had no trouble navigating my way around, since everything was labeled clearly and bright. Its a website worth checking out and I'm positive you would find something your interested in or captures your heart.

Health Introduction

A while back i decided to add/start a health section on my blog, but i wanted to be mentally ready before making this permanent. My idea for this section is to basically becoming a healthier me by eating healthier, exercising more and learning/teaching you healthier tips. While having you all as my support system and maybe even health buddies. But before we get started on this healthier life style, i would like to cover where my struggle began.

So as a kid, i was what you would call normal. I played outside and rode my bike, average 90's kid stuff. My mom would even make dinner for us every single night, so i don't even remember eating out unless it was something special. So if i was to pen point where my weight struggle started, i would have to say around the 4th grade. I have always been a tall person starting from Pre school to the 8th grade. I was either the tallest kid in the school or the tallest girl. You might be thinking i'm so lucky but with growth comes some problems. I started eating more and not just because i was bored, i was truly hungry and along with this came me getting taller. I was 5'5 in the 4th grade and than 5'6 in the 5th. With this i discovered i had bad feet and the bone in my ankles are not fully connected because they are too short (my body grew faster than the bone could). So i had to wear a boot on one foot the whole 5th grade and i didn't get any real exercise, so i gain weight and down hill from there.

So i hope this intro helped you understand a little bit about me and why i want to start this. I know its not going to be easy, but me putting it out there, that i am doing this helps me out a lot. If you would like to join me or your are doing this already, please let me know i would love to follow your blog or social accounts :)

Influenster Review

I have been apart of the Influenster nation since July 2012. Before that i had no clue there was a site like this or even a community of product reviewers.  But one day a YouTuber by the name of BeautyChaotic put up a video called, "My Spring Voxbox" told us all about and basically encouraged us to sign up, so i did. Within know time i was taking surveys, adding my social media links, writing reviews and earning badges. I even qualified for the 2012 Beauty Blogger Voxbox, witch i am still surprised tell this day.
But a lot has changed to Influenster, in a brighter way that i think you all should be aware of. So in this review i will be covering these topics: What is Influenster?, What i think about it and why you should sign up. So lets get started.

What is Influenster?: #Influenster is a product review website that rewards you for your opinion. You take surveys, connect any social media accounts, write product reviews and discover new products all while earning impact points. Its that easy! They even have an #Influensterapp you can take on the go. Doing all of this, will eventually qualify you for a Voxbox and lets not forget anyone can sign up. So no matter if you are a girl or boy, make YouTube videos, blog or not they will still let you be apart of the community. You just have to test out the products you receive and take the required survey when available.

What i think about it: I recommend the site to everyone. Since being signed up i have discovered and been able to test out product i wouldn't normally buy for myself. I have been apart of 5 campaigns (voxbox) and even received a badge prize. My tip is basicly staying active on the influenster page and on social media. The app is something new to me. I have recently started using it, but when your in store and you want to know how good or bad a product is the app really comes in handy. Also recently i got my boyfriend to sign up and he is scoring Voxboxes too. So guys go sign up!

Why you should sign up: Mainly because there is nothing to loose! All you have to do it put your voice out there, even if you really dislike a product. We in the community just want to know what you think and if you recommend it. Having a lot of different opinions really helps out.
